Ambassadors

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

Please read and/or listen to 2 Corinthians 4:1–5:21 today. In the verse we are focused on, Paul urges the church in Corinth to realize that they are indeed ambassadors or Christ! This is a significant statement, which applies just as powerfully to those of us who are followers of Jesus today. God makes his appeal through us. His message for salvation has been entrusted to us. This becomes important for us to understand. We are stewards of the gospel of the kingdom. Jesus came to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 4:23). The message is still the same. Now it has been entrusted to us. Consider how many generations have been declaring this amazing message of hope. Think about the truth that now the message has been entrusted to you! You are an ambassador of the kingdom of heaven. It is as you are reconciled to God that you begin to truly declare his message with your life and with your words, because your heart has been changed by the King. You are a citizen of the kingdom of heaven and heaven has your heart (Matthew 6:21). It is where you store up your treasures. Yet, you have a significant role in this realm! You carry the light. This treasure is carried in our frail “jars of clay” so that God receives all the glory. How are you doing with the message that has been entrusted to you as an ambassador of Christ?
