Future (part 2)
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again…Psalm 71:20
Read and/or listen to Psalm 71 again today. There is another future gaze to consider. It looks beyond the horizon of this world. This world carries pain and struggles, for sure. David has seen struggles—many and bitter. This is a man who knew the presence of God intimately. Yet his life was not easy. It was hard. As you read the account of David’s life, you see a man who was entrusted by God with great faith, but also great responsibility. He was also entrusted with great pain. He did not hide his pain or his lament. He recorded them, as guided by the Holy Spirit. But his eye was on the future. He was ready to do what God would have him to do because he knew that he would have a restored life. As the psalm ends, he bursts into song declaring the faithfulness of God. Old age is not the end. It leads to the end of the beginning! If you are enduring hardship, pause today and consider that God will restore your life again!
