… the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us… 1 John 1:2

Please read John 1:4, 11:25, 14:6 along with 1 John 1:1-4. The world needed a Savior and Jesus is that Savior. John testifies to this truth. Life has been made known. It has come to shine in the darkness. Life has come for those who were trapped in death. Jesus is the life. He is eternal life and he brings the possibility of eternal life to all mankind. I try and imagine how excited John must have been about this. I know how excited I am about this and I have seen it in many other people. They know the way that the life of Jesus has changed their life. I know who I was before Jesus brought his life to me. I know that Jesus is alive by faith, but John knew it by sight! He had heard the risen Jesus speak, he had seen him with his eyes, he had touched the resurrected body and he had intently looked upon it. He saw the horrific death and he saw the glorious life that rose from the grave. Jesus is life for all who will believe in his name. John will not stop proclaiming this truth—it is why he wrote his gospel (John 20:30-31). It is what he proclaims in his letter. Is Jesus your life? Have you believed in his name? Is he your Savior? If so, rejoice! If not, pray to him and ask him to rescue you. Turn from your striving for life on your own. Repent and believe.
