For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth, to seize dwellings not their own. They are dreaded and fearsome; their justice and dignity go forth from themselves. Habakkuk 1:6-7
Are you more impacted by the past, the present, or the future? Once again, if you get the chance, read and/or listen to Habakkuk today. In the verses we are looking at today we get a glimpse into the timelessness of God. The Lord does not count time as we do. He is eternal. He is above and outside of the sphere of time. He sees all of eternity past and eternity future simultaneously. The chronos, passing of time on earth is of no consequence from God’s timeless perspective. A second is no different from an eon; a billion years pass like seconds to the eternal God. He is outside of time and even beyond eternity. In his response to Habakkuk, God reveals his presence in all time. He is in the past, the present, and the future at the same time, and is working all things according to his plan. He knows the Chaldeans. He has seen their past and their present. He knows they are a bitter, hasty, dreaded, and fearsome nation. He knows the attitudes of their hearts as well. He sees that they derive dignity from themselves. We can be confident that God is working in our day because he has always worked in every day and every culture. How do you know that God is involved in your past, present, and future? How can that bring peace to any anxiety that you may have?
