Position

On that day King Ahasuerus gave to Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told what he was to her. And the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.  Esther 8:1-2

Please read Esther 8-10 today, considering all the different people mentioned in the narrative. Do you see that the hand of God is behind them being placed in their positions? In fact, consider the whole book, starting with Ahasuerus, the king placed over Persia by God for that moment in time. Vashti was placed as queen to refuse to come when called so that Esther could become queen, so that Mordecai could be raised up. Haman found himself in his position so that the Lord could reveal that he would indeed protect his chosen people. Haman’s hatred for Mordecai and the Jews allowed for the raising up of Mordecai when the evil plan failed. Each person within the narrative allows us to see that God had positioned them so that his plan could be fulfilled. For such a time as this. You also have been positioned for the very place you are in. In fact, God determined when and where you would live. “From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live” (Acts 17:26 NIV 1984). You may not be a king or a queen, but God’s plan includes you. He has made you and placed you to know him and to reflect his glory. Prayerfully turn to the Lord today and ask him to show you the plan he has for you to fulfill. Let him show you the people he wants to touch through you. Let him show you the people who need his love demonstrated through you. Live to the fullness of the life he has given you.
